Each piece to be used close to the skin, like the cuffs, collar and blindfold are covered with a soft layer of faux fur to one side, with a sturdy leather- look material to the other. There are lots of metal buckles and clasps and pieces like the bondage rope make this kit really durable and suitable for anyone, meaning there are no limitations- practically any fantasy can be played out in your very own bedroom. Add a flogger and a ball gag and you have a really naughty and erotic set.

I was very excited to be able to try out this new Cara Sutra venture for myself! We follow and admire Cara’s work in the industry and read her reviews regularly. It’s amazing to see that someone who started off as a blogger has become so successful and actually has their own sex product line on the making!
The Fantasy Beginners Bondage Kit is lovingly yet simply packaged, it makes a nod to practical sides of storage whilst looking sexy and seductive at the same time. I love the models for this range and the images really make me want to use the kit. The product doesn’t really feel heavy in the box, but each item is chunky and has quality where quality is needed the most. I had a bit of an issue when I first opened the kit, where red fluff just seemed to get EVERYWHERE. I’m still finding it. But the overall quality of the kit is just right for it’s really reasonable price.
Personally, the cuffs I love and I’m sure we’ll get use out of, much like the blindfold and flogger. I’m not too fussed about the ball gag but obviously this is where the kit extends from the world of beginners to BDSM and fetish lovers. It’s all something we’re willing to try and doesn’t include anything invasive, which is great as it means you can add any other toys into the mix and really get use out of the kit, leaving some space for personal preference. The bondage rope is something we haven’t tried before so it’s great to have the opportunity (we’ll see how that goes- I’m sure I’ll end up in knots!!)

So we’ve now used the kit a few times, using different parts at once and experimenting with the bits we hadn’t really tried before. Personally, the ball gag and lead was a no-go for me. It didn’t offend me and I like the fact that it’s in there as it makes the kit that little bit more diverse, but it’s just neither of us are excited by it. In fact, we just laughed our heads off and forgot we were meant to be getting sexy! The quality of the ball gag is good, as is the collar. All the straps, buckles and softer areas really make the whole kit a treat and these items didn’t let us down, so aside for what the items were for, we were impressed.
The rope was a new challenge for us, and we embraced it! We just went for it, and while Mr A’s result was more like a piece of art, I just wrapped him up and teased him in his vulnerable position! The quality of the rope is spot on and there’s a HUGE length of it so you’ll be playing for hours, and for those with a real creative flair with rope-play it is really ideal. This part was such a good giggle for us, you can really have fun with the rope, but then fun turned to seduction which always feels so erotic. Soft and sensual, the rope felt good against my skin, with restraint but comfort, I forgot what I was giggling about when Mr A surprised me by starting the pleasure.
The cuffs are very sturdy and brilliantly made. We secured around my wrists and ankles, with the wrist cuffs around a pole of the bed. I like how the chains clip to each cuff so it can be removed completely. I can see from small details like this that this kit has definitely been made with experimenting in mind and it is a really multi-functional kit on the whole. The cuffs are comfortable and secure, and being chunkier than ones we’ve used before they seemed to live up to the ‘Fantasy’ name by being the kind of thing you’d imagine being restrained by. The fur adds a nice touch and feels luxurious against your skin, just enough to forget about them while in the throws of pleasure. To remove, I could actually slip out of them but they’re easily unbuckled by your other-half. If you really need to escape I could reach one of the clips, to separate the hands and release from the bed.
The blindfold isn’t the best I’ve come across as the leather material was a little hard-edged and has very little flexibility. The soft fur to the inside, though, gladly makes up for this and softens the blindfold on your face. The whole thing fits securely around your head but not too tight, with a simple elastic strap. When in place, it was comfortable enough to forget about but really did the job, I couldn’t see a thing! And I love the effect a good tease has when your sight has been taken.
The leather flogger was used to tease me with the tassels and tickle all over my body, then a light whip here and there to awaken my senses and make me giggle with delight. The flogger, again is very well made, with leather handle woven to obtain good grip, and a metal loop for.. well I’m not sure what for but I like it. I have to say I think I prefer the crop or paddle style spanker myself but it was an exciting experience trying a good-quality flogger. A flogger makes a real whip to your skin, so it really depends what excites you.
We made our way through the kit and each piece really turned us on and made me sensitive to foreplay. I love the benefits of using light bondage every now and then, as it really is a reminder of how fun sex should be! This kit on the whole is a great addition to any toy box and I enjoyed the chunky, sexy look and quality of it. The red fluff did annoy me at first but it has stopped malting since first taking it out of the packaging!

I think Miss K has pretty much gone into full detail about what exactly is in the kit and the quality of each individual product, so rather than repeating ourselves I’ll talk about the overall experience of using the kit and my initial thoughts of the packaging.
When the Beginners Bondage kit first arrived I was really excited about using it, we’d never played with a Flogger before and I’d seen some beautiful photography featuring people bound by ropes. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the bondage rope and see if I could recreate some of the lovely images I’d seen on our twitter account. The kit’s box is nicely designed with beautifully photographed model displaying some of the products found in the kit. These are really sexy images which get you thinking about how you could use the kit. The box explains straight away what the kit includes and a little bit about who the product targets. There’s a QR code on the packaging which leads you to the Products website which holds more about Cara on there. What I would say is that because the product is labelled as being by Cara Sutra having some of her accolades on the box might help the general public (who might not know about Cara) why Cara knows exactly what she’s doing and why this kit is ace. But that’s just a very small point.

Like Miss K has said the kit is extremely well made and feels like an upgrade to the bondage kits we’ve reviewed in the past. The kit is more substantial and looks like it would stand the test of time. As Miss K has also mentioned the ball gag, collar and leash didn’t really appeal to us, although sometimes the ball gag might be quite useful to stop Miss K’s nagging when I’ve forgotten to do something ;).
The blind fold, wrist and ankle cuffs are very well made and you can tell attention to detail has been made with these. They’re up there along with the best of cuffs we have tried. The flogger was fun to experiment with and something I’ve wanted to try for ages. I like how you can use it to be very soft and tickle the skin with it (which Miss K did used around my private regions and it felt amazing) or a bit rougher and really tell the other half off with it. What I did find is it takes a bit of practice to judge how painful each swipe of the flogger will be, as I could tell Miss K didn’t like it sometimes.
I mentioned the creative rope photos I’d seen on the internet and how I wanted to play with Bondage rope to see if I could recreate them…well it turns out it’s not a skill you’re born with. I did attempt to create something similar but ended up creating some weird art piece, which we just found hilarious. When it was Miss K’s turn she’d manage to create me some unusual rope, thong, cock ring thing…don’t give up the day job. The ropes were fun to play with, and although we had a laugh more than created erotic masterpieces, one thing lead to another…
Overall I was happy with the quality off the kit and it’s content. Like Miss K has mentioned the Ball Gag doesn’t scream beginners to us, but for others I’m sure it’ll be fun for them to experiment with. The Cara Sutra Beginners bondage kit is a great kit at an extremely reasonable price. There is something in the kit for everyone to ensure your bondage play will lead to an amazing climax. Who knows, in the next few months we might be posting some photos of Miss K bound beautifully with bondage rope!

- As beginners, use with caution as to what your partner is comfortable with – use a safe word or speak about limits before using.
- Introduce different items from the kit a bit at a time- start with the cuffs, for example, and then choose as you go along.

Overall, the kit is really beautifully made, with all aspects of safety and individuality in mind. The kit is extensive compared to most, and includes lighter as well as more hardcore elements. We wouldn’t consider this completely a beginners kit- two years ago we probably wouldn’t have gone for it as our first bondage kit because of the ball gag and collar, so we wonder if it would appeal to those who are genuine beginners who have only recently branched out from well-known stores? For a couple like ourselves this kit is pretty spot on in terms of scope for experimenting. We enjoyed the rope as something different and ongoing to try, but the ball gag and choker wasn’t quite for us, as this seems a bit more niche to fans of BDSM.
Also, we love the branding ourselves but wonder if someone who didn’t know Cara would quite get the images and name of her brand on the packaging? Saying that, it’s a perfect kit for people like ourselves, or other followers of Cara, who want to try something a little bit different and very, very special.
We give this 7/10 … And we look forward to more Cara Sutra ventures!!
